When you live and work in one of the most beautiful parts of the country its a no brainier to want to photograph it. As a Chesterfield portrait photographer I love nothing more than to accompany a family in to the stunning Derbyshire countryside and help them to make memories by capturing the love and fun they have in camera.

As I’ve been working as a professional portrait photographer in Chesterfield for well over 11 years, I have discovered lots of picturesque locations that are just perfect for photos and capturing your special memories.

My style is a mixture between formal and relaxed as I think this gives you the best of both worlds. I do a mixture of classical family portraits, so you get beautifully posed images as well as the more relaxed images that capture you and you children having fun, creating those memories.

Its a grand adventure

But this isn’t just a photo shoot, its an adventure.

I find that children can often become a little board if we just stay in one spot, so we make it one big game.

We explore the area, hunting fairies or bears. We jump off rock and climb trees and run round.

I encourage children to be themselves. Not only dose this create natural relaxed photos, but it also allows them to get to know me. I’m one big kid at heart so playing around comes naturally to me.

One little boy even asked his mummy when he could come back and play again because he’d had so much fun.

Weather

The great British weather is wonderful isn’t it. We never know from one day to the next what it is going to do.

One of the questions I get asked is “what happens if it rains?”

If its pouring down we can always reschedule your session but some families like to make the most of it and we will splash about in puddles and dance in the rain.

Most of my locations are chosen with the weather in mind, so they have cover if we have light rain.

Seasons

I love the different seasons we have here in the UK and they can make for some beautiful photos.

My favourite time of year has to be spring, as this is when the bluebells are out.

I have been photographing my own children amongst them for the last 7 year. Its amazing to see how much they have grown and changed over the years.

Now I offer my lovely clients the opportunity to do the same. Im please to say that I have families that return year after year and its lovely to watch the little ones grow.

As the bluebell season is so short I only offer one date, so spaces are very limited.

Little ones

Even if you have a child who isn’t able to run around yet, I can still capture lovely relaxed photos. We get lots of cuddles and smiles and tickling and giggles.
