I have been a photographer for the best part of 9 years now. In this time I have seen my business grow from a hobby to a full on successful business. Last year I was asked to run a live 2 day Newborn Posing & Business Workshop for Engage Live which was broadcast to over 2000 photographers across the world.
If you are like me, you love photography, its your passion and you’re rather good at it. But running a successful photography business in less about taking photos and more about sales & marketing.
I have seen so many amazing photographers fail simply because they suck at the business side. We all have to make a living from our business, just because we love what we do doesn’t mean we can live on a fresh air.
I have been offering Newborn 1-2-1 training for some time now and part of that training consists of the business side to. There really isn’t much point in me training someone to be a brilliant photographer but not giving them the tools to help them run a successful business.
Recently I’ve have been asked to more and more to run purely business workshops. So Last week, I ran my first every stand alone photography business workshop here at my boutique studio In Chesterfield, Derbyshire with 5 lovely Photographers from across the country.
We looked at identifying our audience, branding, marketing, preparing clients for their sessions, sales, pricing & viewings. I took a look at everyones website and gave feed back on how they could improve it.
I explained my simple techniques (that in no way involved any hard sales tactics) that will not only help generate better sales but will improve client relationship & customer service.
