After 11 years as a portrait photographer in Chesterfield Derbyshire, 7 of them being a newborn photographer, I am always shouting about safety in the newborn industry.
As you might be aware, in 2016 i purchased a Stand in baby (SIB). This is the worlds first fully articulating posing doll.
Now mostly I use this when im training other photographers in the art of Newborn photography, however I also use it in the studio too.
Sibling photos are amazing and I love photographing them. However when you have very young sibling, they dont alway understand that they have to be very carful around the new baby.
This is where Frankie comes in (my SIB).
I first get the child into position and then i use Frankie to show them how to hold and support the baby.
This will also show me if the child is
a) confidant enough to hold the baby how i need them to
b) happy to remain still when holding the baby.
